Gerald D. Parsons “Jerry” – December 27, 2012

Canandaigua/Livonia: December 27, 2012 at age 75 years. Predeceased by his parents James & Viola Parsons, brother James Parsons, and sister Phyllis Gorwaiz. Survived by his wife Maachah “Mickey” Parsons of Canandaigua; brother Myron (Barbara) Parsons of Honeoye, Sisters; Evelyn Spross of Newark, Sybil Joy of Dansville, and Laurel, Marcia, & Lynette Parsons all of Livonia. Several Nieces & Nephews.

Jerry was born on January 28, 1937, to James and Viola W. Parsons. He grew up in the Village of Conesus and graduated from Livonia High School. After graduation, he went to work for the Schlegel Corporation in Rochester. While at Schlegel’s, he was drafted and served two years in the U.S. Army. He was stationed at Fort Dix, NJ, Fort Benning, GA and Fort Rucker, AL. In 1971 he moved to Livonia and in October 1986 he married Maachah Chase-Coates and moved to Canandaigua. After 40+ years at Schlegel’s, he retired in 2000. In his younger years, Jerry enjoyed deer hunting and camping with his buddies. He also liked painting and putting all kinds of models together. Jerry was a gentle soul who was willing to help others.

Friends may call Monday from 1-3pm at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home Inc., 21 Big Tree St., Rte 15&20A, Livonia, where services will follow calling at 3pm. Rev. David Geer will be the celebrant. Burial to be held privately. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester, 840 University Ave., Rochester, NY 14607.     We will certainly miss you…. We know that you are in a good place now and no longer suffering. We ask that the Lord accept you into his kingdom where you will see your mom & dad, Jimmy, Phyllis, and of course, George. Rest in Peace.
