Grace Marian Gaylord of Honeoye: Grace Marian Gaylord went to be with the Lord on October 7, 2012. She was 93 years of age. A woman of unwavering faith and devotion, she will be remembered for her ability to always see the best in others and for having a loving heart that could expand infinitely to include all. Grace was born June 14, 1919 in Bronx, N.Y. to Sellick and Lucy Scofield. One of eight children and raised during extremely difficult times, Grace always considered herself to have had a marvelous childhood, filled with love and attention.

In 1942 she married her first husband, Hugo DePaolo, and raised four children: Grace, Carol, Hugh, and Nancy. In 1965, after a long illness, Hugo passed away. Grace worked as Medical Librarian, providing for her children, in Schoharie County, NY until she married William W. Gaylord, who had recently suffered the loss of his wife Barbara, and had six children of his own. With her second marriage Grace brought love and comfort into the lives of both families and an indivisible bond was forged between William and Grace.

Grace was predeceased by her daughter Grace Blakeney, and her son Martin Gaylord. She is survived by her husband William Gaylord; her children, Carol Roles, Jeffrey Gaylord, Susan Kimble, Hugh DePaolo, William Gaylord, Carol Primiano, Nancy Pattarini, David Gaylord, and her brother, Sellick Scofield. Her love extended to 25 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. Although the warmth of her joyful smile will be missed by all, her love will last for eternity.

Friends may call Thursday 4-7 PM at Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral, 8624 Main St., Honeoye, NY. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday 11 AM at St. Mary’s Church, Route 20A, Honeoye. To send condolences, please visit: www.doughertyfuneralhomes.com

  2. So Sorry for your loss. God does have another angel. I only knew Grace for a short time but you knew right off she was a special person..so sweet……

  3. The loss of Grace will be felt by all who knew her. She was a very special woman who could see the light in the darkest situations. I have been blessed to have her as my monther-in-law for 36 years and I loved her for all of them. She always made me feel welcome to her large loving family. Gracie gave me such comfort when I needed it and had a way of making me see the good in any person or event. I always said I wanted to be like Gracie when I grew up; I’m still working on it with a long way to go. She was very special and will be missed.
God Bless our new angel and those she left behind.
    Kim
