Meta L Butera, of Livonia, September 17, 2012 at age 84 years. Predeceased by her husband Charles A. Butera in 2009. Survived by daughters; Lynn (Scott) Woodworth of Conesus and Sue (Marty) Wester of Livonia. Grandchildren; Christopher and Ryan Woodworth, Jeffrey and Joshua Wester. Brother “Abe” (Dorothy) Machols of Leroy.
A loving and caring wife, mother, and friend.
Born in Batavia, New York on June 16, 1928 to parents, Adolph and Olive (Legg) Machols, and raised in LeRoy, New York, Meta lost her father in a tragic car accident at the age of 12. Her family struggled financially after this but it only gave Meta a more positive outlook on life and a very caring spirit that she carried with her throughout her life. She was always happy and never complained. Meta realized early in life that material possessions meant nothing compared to family and friends. It is for those reasons that she loved many, was loved by many and will never be forgotten.
Meta’s life revolved around her family, especially her four grandsons, and she was extremely involved in all of their athletics and interests. She was a common fixture in the stands and on the sidelines over the span of the last twenty eight years. She rarely missed a game.
Meta’s family would like to express their gratitude to the Reverend Doctor Deborah Roof, the Lakeville United Church of Christ, her beautiful family and friends and the compassionate and caring staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Strong Memorial Hospital.

I was sad to hear of your mother (grandmother) passing. I worked with her and always found it so uplifting to hear her many stories of her family. She could always make everyone laugh. She was a great inspiration to all around her. She will be missed, but not forgotten.

I was very sorry to hear about your Mom. She kept us all laughing around the lunch table at work and brightened many tedious working hours with her pithy comments and observations. A light went out at Stever-Locke the day she retired.
I don’t have time here to mention our “shopping” trips – we generally parked in the nearest snack bar and talked non-stop for two or three hours.
She will be truly missed.
