Livonia: Gordon F. Herington, 82 years, of Shelly Road, Livonia, NY died Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Conesus Lake Nursing Home in Livonia after a lengthy illness. He was born in Livonia, May 9, 1929 the son of Frank and Golda Beam Herington. Prior to retirement, he was employed by the Conesus Lake County Water and Sewer Authority. An avid hunter and sportsmen, he was a member of the Conesus Lake Sportsmens Club and was a trainor with DEC at their East Avon location. He also was a member of the Geneseo Aircraft Museum. Gordon married his late wife, Helen on October 16, 1948.

He is survived by his sisters, Ruth Ann Peck of Livonia and Jean Pierce of Lima. Several nieces and nephews. Many dear friends including Michael Bunce, Ron Sweet, Stephanie Seymour and Louis Celona.

Friends may call Saturday, November 19, from 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc. Routes 15 & 20A, 21 Big Tree St. Livonia, where services will be held following visitation at 11 AM. Burial, Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Geneseo.   1. I will miss talking to Gordy about hunting and guns. He was a great guy with a lot of knowledge and loved to share it.

  2. Uncle Gordon. I will always remember you on your tractor, the sun shining on your face. You took me on my one and ONLY hunting “trip” and I shot the heck out of that cattail. And my shoulder was bruised for weeks. And you yelling at me after Diane and I tried to “put the chickens to bed” Who knew they did that all by themselves??? Apples, tomatoes, chickens, hunting, lilacs. I thank you for giving me a love for the land. You are together with Helen again, as you should be. It was a privilege and an honor. Claudia.
