As a young girl, Dorothy Jean West grew up on the East Swamp Road in Conesus. Before the age of 9, she lost both parents, was separated from her siblings, and came to know her grandmother as her primary caregiver.

Even when faced with such adversity, Dorothy made the most of what she had. She developed a love for the outdoors, and became involved in school activities. She easily made friendships that have lasted from her days at the one room schoolhouse on Sliker Hill through her 1948 graduation from Livonia Central School.

Dorothy worked for Kodak until she married her high school sweetheart, Frank West in 1953. She became a full time mother and raised six children: Sally, Susan, Samuel, Sharon, Sandra, and Stephen. When Frank died in 1976, she took over as president of West Beer Distributors. She retired in 2001 and took on her most cherished role as full time Grandma to Philip, Bryan, Megan, and Ruby.

Dorothy’s endless commitment as a wife, mother, friend, classmate, businesswoman, and grandmother has left a lasting impression and memories to fill a lifetime.
