Geneseo-Lakeville: Patricia A. Brown, 75 years, of Lakeville Estates, Geneseo, NY died Saturday, February 19, 2011, at the home of her daughter, in Cambria, NY., after a short and valiant battle with cancer. She was born May 25, 1935, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, NY., the daughter of James and Alice McCabe Griffin. In her early years, she was employed as a film inspector at Eastman Kodak Co. She then went on to Nationwide Insurance, initially, as a secretary, but then worked way on to become a successful agent. Eventually, she purchased her own agency in Hilton, NY in 1974 which would become “The Patricia G. Austin Agency”. She was very active in Hilton Pop Warner Football, acting in many different capacities. She also was an avid Miami Dolphin football fan, her favorite player being Dan Marino. She retired in 1980. She spent many years enjoying the warmth and sunshine of Florida as well as at her home on Conesus Lake. She loved the lake, gardening, sailing, “old wood boats” and most of all, enjoying time with her family. She will be sorely and deeply missed.

She was predeceased by her husband, William A. Brown. Also her former husbands, Peter J. Austin and John E. Bridgeman. her sister, Virginia A. Scott, her brother, Robert T. Griffin and brother-in-law, Donald Herring.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Paddy(Austin) and Gary Adamek; grandson, Jeffery M. Braun; step-daughter, Lisa (Ronald) Zielinski, grandchildren, Stephanie, Mackenzie and Zachary Zielinski. granddog, “Duncan”. Her sisters, Jane Herring, Margaret Mary “Peggy” (John) MacDonald. Many loving nieces & nephews and her extended Buffalo “Braun Family”.

He was born in Buffalo, NY, August 28, 1932 the son of Daniel and Lillian Slattery Tubbs. Ken served his country in the US Navy in the Korean War and was a member of the Harrison-Lee American Legion Post #283. He was a retiree of Eastman Kodak Co. and belonged to the Livingston Antique Car Club and the U.S.S. Beatty Reunion Association.

She was born in Rochester, NY September 6, 1918, the daughter of John and Martha Goetz Devine. She was predeceased by her husbands, Robert Smearing in 1962 and Ralph Durbin in 2009. She was a member of the former St. Josephs Church in Livonia, and St. Matthews Church in Livonia, and the Conesus Golden Years Club. She was an avid bowler for over 50 years.

Livonia: William W. White, 84 years, of East Ave. Livonia, NY died Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Strong Memorial Hospital after a short illness. He was born in Websters Crossing, NY, May 21, 1926 the son of Walter and Lillian Holmes White. His early years were spent in Websters Crossing before the family moved to Conesus. Following that, most of his life was spent residing in Livonia. Bill served his country during World War II in the US Army. Upon returning from the service, he worked for the NY State Highway Department followed by Syracuse Supply Corp. He concluded his working career at Livonia Central School in the transportation department. Bill was a very active member of his church, the Livonia United Methodist Church and could often be found volunteering or assisting a friend or neighbor in need. He was a member of the Harrison-Lee American Legion Post #283 and the Dansville Moose Club.

Bill was married to his wife Stella Antoszyk White on August 12, 1951. She predeceased him in 2006. His brothers, Paul White and Jay White also predeceased him. His is survived by his children, Pam (Tony) Brewer of Scotia, NY and Nancy Gleason of Livonia; grandchildren, Matthew (Mara) Brewer, Theresa (John) Polson & Melanie Brewer; great-grandchildren, Joshua & Bailey Brewer; sisters, Betty (Bill) Greene of Conesus & Joyce Carpenter of Geneseo; nieces & nephews.

Susanne Short Tompkins Brown of Geneseo, NY/Buffalo, NY/ Matawan, NJ, 78, passed away February 13, 2011 at Highland Hospital in Rochester, NY after a brief illness.

Daughter of Myron Spencer Short and Winifred Maria Allen, Susanne was born in buffalo, NY on November 28, 1932, the youngest of four siblings.

Susanne was predeceased by her beloved husband James L. Brown of Matawan, NJ. She is survived by her five children, S. Wendy Fusco, and husband Paul P. Fusco, John W. Tompkins, Jill C. Tompkins, David S. Tompkins, Allen C. Tompkins and wife Kara K. Tomkins. She was the proud grandmother of 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Susanne, known to her friends as Susie, attended Buffalo Seminary and Russell Sage College. She was first and foremost a loving and devoted mother. She was an avid reader, an outstanding writer of letter, maintaining correspondence in the traditional art of letter writing, and later through email, with all of her children and grandchildren, and her many friends from around the world. Susie had a zest for life, an amazing sense of humor, and never lacked an opinion on an important subject. She was an exceptional cook, an outstanding Bridge player, and loved to work in her garden. For 60 years, Susie maintained an active affiliation with her PEO sisterhood, a Philanthropic Educational Organization that focuses on the advancement of women by raising money to help pay for their educations. She traveled extensively throughout Europe, the Caribbean, Latin America, and the Pacific Rim from Australia to China. Susie will be more than greatly missed by all of us who loved her so much.

Irondequoit/Honeoye Falls: February 9, 2011 at age 90 years at the Pinehurst Senior Living Community. He is Lovingly remembered by his wife of 65 years Lillian (McAllister) Anderson. His son Colonel Gary (Anne) Anderson USMC Ret. of Stafford VA and his daughter Kim Nichols of Livonia. Grandchildren Karrie (Adam) Aycock of Fredericksburg, VA, Mark Anderson of Kansas City, MO, Justin (Sara) Nichols of Apex, NC and Kasey Nichols of Rochester. Bill was born September 13, 1920 in Rochester, NY to parents William K. Anderson Sr. and Carrie (Nilsson) Anderson.

Bill was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He served as a radioman and tank commander in the Guadalcanal and Eniwetock campaigns and was wounded on Guam. Following the war he worked in the printing industry for many years in the Rochester area, serving many companies including Kodak and Xerox. He retired as the Vice President of Sales for JR Leinen Printing Co. of Rochester NY. Bill was a member of the Printer’s Guild where he was “Man of the Year” in 1983. He was also active in many other organizations, including the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed boating and following many local sports.

Lakeville: Clyde W. Sloan, 83 years of Lakeville, NY died late Friday evening, February 4, 2011 at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris, NY after a short stay. He was born in Lakeville, NY, March 9, 1927, the son of Charles and Bessie Hoyt Sloan. Clyde was a graduate of Livonia Central School where he was inducted into its First Sports Hall of Fame Class. He participated on all the sports teams throughout his high school years. He received his Bachelors Degree from Clarkson College. Clyde served his country in the US Army during World War 2. He married his late wife, Irene, November 28, 1957. Irene died February 1, 2007.

He is survived by his children, Robbin R. Sloan of Dansville, NY and James C. (Ginger) Sloan of Shrewsbury, PA. 2 grandsons, Brennon and Parker. several nieces & nephews.
