Conesus: David F. Nice, 59 years, of Conesus died Sunday, June 27, 2010 at his Conesus home following a long illness. He was born in Dansville, NY, August 10, 1950, the son of Donald Nice and Barbara Smith Fowler. David was a US Army Veteran serving his country from 1970 until his discharge in February 1973. On June 17, 1978 he married the former Laurel Holbrook. An electronics technician, he was employed by the US Postal Service prior to his retirement. David was a long time member of the American Legion. He was predeceased by his mother, Barbara Smith Fowler, sister Lizbet Faine, and step-father John Fowler.

Besides his wife Laurel, he is survived by his father and step-mother, Donald and Margaret Nice of Dansville; siblings, Brandee Snyder of AZ, Nancy Nice (Rhonda) of Dansville, Julie (Ross) Guzzardi of Ossian, James (Lisa) Nice of Canandaigua, Jon (Sue) Nice of Dansville and Jason Nice of El Segundo, CA. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

William R. VanDerMeid – June 23, 2010

William R. VanDerMeid, 85, of Livonia June 23, 2010. Bill was born August 22, 1944, the third and final son of Clarence and Florence Clapp VanDerMeid. He and his brothers, Edward and Robert grew up on Main Street, Livonia. They worked with their father on the family farm which consisted of 40 acres of the rich muck land in South Livonia, growing celery and onions there for shipping all over this country.

After graduating from Livonia Central School, Bill spent time at Cornell Univeristy, continuing to work with his father. He married his school sweetheart, Shirley on March 1, 1947. Bill and Shirley raised their two children on Main Street Livonia. Bill worked for a while at Kodak, but hated the commute. He purchased additional muck land, growing potatoe and other crops for Western New York stores. Later, Bill sold and repaired dairy equipment for DeLaval all over Monroe, Ontario and Livingston Counties, eventually oning his own lawn moving business.

Survived by his wife of 63 years Shirley VanDerMeid. Son James (Shirley) VanDerMeid of Wayland and daughter Lynda Robinson of Livonia. Grandchildren: Michael (Shamrock) VanDerMeid of Livonia, Nicole VanDerMeid of Frederick, MD, Timothy (Cassandra) Robinson of Avon, Daniel (Justine) Robinson of Summerville, SC and Kristina Robinson of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. 8 Great-Grandchildren,brother in laws, sister in laws, nieces & nephews,former daughter in law Donna Rodgers, and many friends.

Bill was a long time member of the Livonia Fire Department volunteering services since 1942. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Livonia and was also a former member of the Masonic Lodge. The family would like to thank the Conesus Lake Nursing Home for their wonderful care of dad while he was a resident there.

Terry Michael Leonard – June 14, 2010

Terry Michael Leonard of Honeoye: June 14, 2010 at age 63 after a courageous and inspirational fight against cancer. Terry was predeceased by his parents Verne and Dorothy Ide Leonard. He is survived by his wife Wende; children Karen (Paul) Baptist of Cranston, RI, and Michael (Edith) Leonard of Honeoye; granddaughter Hailey; sister Karen (Richard) Young; nephew Ted (Alison) McCrone; niece Jennifer Young; grandnephews Jeffrey and Ryan McCrone; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Terry was an active member of Eagle Lodge #619 and Eagle Star Chapter #350, and a trustee of the Honeoye Public Library. He was a graduate of Brighton High School and Monroe Community College. He loved trains, reading, and the Buffalo Bills (despite it all).

Jason loved the outdoors. He would hunt, fish, hike, camp, ride four-wheelers, snowmobiles, and ride motorcycles as many hours as a day would allow. He loved sports and played football in school as well as out of school with his friends. He loved animals and taking care of them. Jason also enjoyed lifting weights and working out. To sum it up, Jason was ALL BOY ALL THE TIME growing up. As a man, he lived on the edge, always looking for the next exciting or challenging adventure.

Caledonia: June 1, 2010 at age 30 years after a courageous fight with cancer. Survived by husband, Michael C. Bartgis and son Tyler Bartgis. Parents Thomas and Mary Lynne Seifert and brother Timothy Seifert.

Cathy was a graduate of Caledonia-Mumford School continuing her education at Genesee Community College and Roberts Wesleyan College where received her bachelors in Business Administration. She was an employee of Paychex working in the human resources department. She married Michael Bartgis and they had their son Tyler who is now five years old.

While attending college she worked part time at the gym and became very active in physical fitness. Even after being diagnosed with cancer she ran many marathons and kept herself busy. She loved to run, bicycle,, workout, and spend time with her family and friends. She was truly optomistic and always thinking of others besides herself. She loved animals and being outdoors. She lived for her family, Mike and Tyler, everyday…..they were the highlight of her life. She was a voice and advocate for cancer awareness. She attended many seminars regarding her illness….she tried to be an inspiration to others! She spent many hours in Chemo treatment at the Pluta Cancer Center. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks and appreciation for all the tender care and loving compassion given to Cathy. Also thanks are extended to Dr. Brian Yirinec and nurse Gail who took great care of her.

Cathy was always supported by her husband Michael, son Tyler, her parents Tom and Mary Lynne, and brother Tim. She loved to be a Aunt to her nephew Brayden. Cathy had many friends that were with her all along including Carley Smith, Kada Donaghue, McKenzie Mueller, Dale Phillips, Angelique Vallot, Dawn Hasermas, and many others.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on Saturday, June 5, 2010, 2PM at the First Presbyterian Church, 3080 West Main St., Caledonia. Rev.
