Livonia: At age 94, Joe passed away peacefully on Monday, April 15, 2024, at the Corning Hospital in Corning, NY. He was born on December 8, 1929, to the late John and Tina Alfieri in Warsaw, NY. Joe is predeceased by his son, Eric (Ellen) Alfieri; and his sister, Dorothy Cofield, and sister-in-law, Sharron Alfieri. Survived by his loving daughter, Anna M. (Ralph) Servati; his siblings, Anna Batzold; and Thomas Alfieri, along with his 3 grandchildren Phillip (Lauren) Servati, Tim Servati, Tara (Brett) Wheeler. Great grandchildren, Luke and Tori Wheeler. Many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Shortly after his education in Warsaw, NY, Joe went on to proudly serve his country by joining the US Army during the Korean War. After the War, Joe came home and worked for the Town of Wyoming Cty and then moved on to a new career with Pennwalt Corporation in Rochester, NY. Joe was an avid hunter and very proud of his gun collection. He had a passion for motorcycles and traveled throughout the country with friends. Spending time with his family and visiting with friends at Minnehans is what Joe enjoyed the most.
Joe spent his last months at the VA in Bath, NY where he was compassionately cared for.

Livonia:  At age 88, Jim passed peacefully on April 14, 2024 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY.  He was born on March 19, 1936 in Mineola, NY to the late Wilson and Hulda (Wedin) Turner.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son Timothy Turner and brother Wilson “Bill” Turner.  Survived by his wife of almost 69 years, Jean Turner and children; Steve (Patty ) Turner of PA, Jeff (Sue) Turner of CT, Eric Turner (Sharon Wise) of Livonia, and Julie (Reade) Moulton of Dansville; grandchildren, Rick (Cassandra) Turner, Heather (Thomas) Pyle, Travis Moulton (Amanda Rizzoni), Daniel Turner, and Shawn Turner; great-grandchildren, Trent and Keegan Turner; several nieces and nephews.

Jim served his country as a member of the Coast Guard reserves.  He married Jean in 1955 and was a devoted husband for almost 69 years.  He married Jean in a double wedding ceremony with his best friend Al and Jean’s twin sister Jane. He had five children and was a wonderful father, always sharing his wisdom and insights on life. He was an attentive and caring grandfather. He had long and productive employment with R.E. Hebert, Inc. in Rochester and Niagara Insulations in Buffalo. While at R.E. Hebert he held a patent for a free flow underdrain that is still used in water treatment plants today. Throughout his decades long career he was able to travel to several countries including Venezuela, Brazil and Australia where he constructed preheaters for Alcoa and the aluminum plants.

Not being ready to fully retire, he worked as a consultant for Alcoa for more than a decade while they lived in Florida.  Besides his family and work, his passions were motorcycle riding, and his civil war reenactment group, Mosby’s Rangers.  Jim was also an avid hunter and he shared this pastime with his brother and sons. He and Jean made several cross-country motorcycle rides, including a trip to Colorado with Jane and Al which was a highlight in their lives.

He was the most resilient man in the face of adversity who taught us all how to persevere without a complaint and do so with a smile on his face.

Arkport: At age 78, Doug passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at the Maple City Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Hornell, NY.  He was born on March 1, 1946, to the late George and Blanche Travis in Hornell, NY. Doug is predeceased by his beloved wife Jan M. Travis. Survived by his children, Larry Douglas Travis, and Kate Travis; his brothers, George Travis, Clarence Travis, and Richard Travis; his grandchildren, Douglas Travis, Tyler Travis, and Sydney Hurlbut; and great-grandchildren, Kaiylee, Rhyder, Mayson, Brae’ Ellyn, Brantley, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Shortly after graduation from Honeoye Central School, Doug went on to the Army where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War.  He loved spending time outdoors, whether it was with his horses, hunting, fishing, or shooting trap.  Sometimes Doug would even bring the outdoors in with him when he would make wood carvings.  But most of all Doug enjoyed being with his family.  He will be greatly missed.

Springwater: At age 69, Stanley Payne Sr. passed away at Strong Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. He was born on February 9, 1955, to the late George and Marjorie (Houghtaling) Payne. Stanley was predeceased by his sister, Elaine Davenport, and brother, Ronald Payne Sr. Survived by his wife Tammy (Horcsog) Payne, daughters, Amanda (Dennis Richardson Jr.) Payne, Sandy (William lll) Barnum, son, Stanley Payne Jr. Brothers, Eldon (Kathy) Payne, George (Noreen) Payne, sisters, Dena (Ray) Tokaya, Deckla (Sam Hill) Payne, Darla (Alan) Eldred, brother-in-law, Richard Davenport. His grandchildren, Brianna and Gwen Richardson, William IV, and Alivea Barnum. Many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.

When Stanley was still driving you would find him in his old, black, Dodge truck with a Pepsi, a pack of Camels, and his dog Brandy. He loved seeing old friends and brothers and reminiscing about the good old times. He enjoyed fishing and going for drives, New York Jets and NASCAR. He was proud of his demolition derby trophies, a hobby he did with his son Stanley Jr. It was never a dull moment when Stanley was around. He left behind many stories (we have all heard so many times), dumb jokes sayings, and memories for us all.

Honeoye:  Carol Ann May, age 87, died peacefully on April 9, 2024, at the Teresa House in Geneseo. She was born in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Canada to the late James and Medora Cloney. Survived by her beloved husband, Carl May, of Honeoye. They had been married for almost 66 years. Carol has been a resident of Honeoye for almost 70 years. She is also survived by her three children; Scott (Yanxia) May of Honeoye Falls, Sheila Malloy of Honeoye, and Steven (Sue) May of Bristol. Carol also has two granddaughters, Nichole (Pat) Mulkern and Courtney (Paul) Aylward as well as 2 great-grandchildren, Addison and Mackenzie Mulkern.

Carol was a member of the United Church of Christ in Honeoye for many years. The church and its members played an important role in her life both spiritually and personally with her many friendships. She was also a volunteer for the Red Cross, organizing the local blood drives for almost 20 years. Carol enjoyed dancing, playing the piano, cooking, knitting, crocheting, gardening, and visiting with her many friends.

Honeoye: At age 79, Brent passed away suddenly on Monday, April 8, 2024, at his home in Honeoye. He was born on September 3, 1944, to the late Armand and Alice (Gauthier) Coryer. Brent was predeceased by his brother, Alan Coryer, and sister, Deborah Coryer. Survived by his wife Sandra (Hart) Coryer, daughters, Brenda (Brian) Ward, Tricia (Chad) Carlini, sisters, Sandy (Melvin) Terry, Marilyn Newell, Kim Coryer, Kelly (Barry) Rock. His in-laws Sherry (Dan) White, Sheila Ford, Patricia (Jerry) Raymond, Michelle (Ed) Gareau, Dale (Pam) Hart, Kevin (Vickie) Hart, and Timmy (Judy) Hart, Cindy Hart. His grandchildren, Andrew (Stephanie) Ward, Brent (Kelsey) Beeley, Aaron (Ceara) Ward, William Beeley, Caleb Beeley, great-grandchildren, Wesley, Charlotte, Sutton, and Della, as well as many nieces and nephews.

When Brent got out of the Navy in 1966, during a night out with friends, he met the love of his life! He and Sandy enjoyed a whirlwind courtship and married on February 18, 1967. They moved from the Adirondacks to Rochester where Brent worked at Kodak for thirty-one years. During that time, they welcomed two daughters, Brenda and Tricia, and created a beautiful life for their little family.

When his girls were growing up, Brent rarely missed any of their games or band concerts. Despite the long work days, he was a hands-on father and devoted family man. He said “I love you” freely and was a good husband to Sandy for fifty-seven years! They enjoyed spending time with friends and family at their camp in Highmarket, New York, where he was often heard saying, “Good music, good food, good company. What more could you ask for?” In their later years, they devoted much time and effort to the Honeoye-Hemlock American Legion and Auxiliary, Post 1278, where he served as commander during 2016 and 2017. They also took pride in helping with St. Mary’s Annual Garage sale every summer.

Brent was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing with his brother Alan, nephew Robbie, friends, and eventually, his grandsons. He also enjoyed coaching their little league teams and serving as a volunteer umpire for Honeoye Junior Baseball. He spent many hours playing ball with his grandsons in the backyard, going through baseball cards with them, and indoctrinating them into becoming Boston Red Sox fans!

Livonia: At age 93, Rosemary passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, April 5, 2024, at her home in Livonia. She was born on August 7, 1930, to the late Salvatore and Antoinette LaMonica. Rosemary was predeceased by her beloved husband, Frank Cicero in 1987; and her son-in-law, Dale Kriedemann. Survived by her children, Mary Kriedemann, Frank Cicero (Robert Altavena), Joseph (Cheryl) Cicero, Antoinette Easley, and Monica (Scott) Buchan; and her grandchildren, James (Jeong) Robinson, Andrea (Robert) Rafanelli, Anthony Cicero, Terri (Anand) Bhatt, David (Kate) Easley, Matthew Easley, Nicholas Buchan, Zachary Buchan; along with 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.

The youngest of five siblings, Rosemary was raised by her parents, Salvatore and Antoinette LaMonica who emigrated from Sicily, before settling in Mt. Morris, NY.  Having been instilled with the value of family, it was no surprise that upon meeting Frank Cicero, the youngest of eleven from Livonia, NY, she felt right at home on Shelly Road, where her legacy began. Rosemary’s infectious laugh and willful spirit brought life to the family homestead.  As a housewife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she laid the foundation of unbreakable family ties through her acts of unconditional love and service.  No detail was too small and no cookie tray too large, when it came to her loved ones.  Regardless of the miles, she always came to be by her children and grandchildren’s sides.

Rosemary was a proud member of the Livonia Central School Lunch Bunch, where she retired from her career as a lunch lady at the tender age of 75.  Her work ethic, strength, and courage were a consistent thread which encapsulated every part of her life. She was no “weeping willow,” but a matriarchal pillar. In truth, her legacy will one day read like a fairytale, for there will never be another of her likeness.

Livonia: Our mother passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 5, 2024 at the age of 103. She was born on January 27, 1921, in Egypt, NY to the late Bruner and Margaret (Case) Bown. Ruth was predeceased by her beloved husband, Harold E. Sachs; siblings, George Bown, Margaret Pickering, Jean Webb, and daughter-in-law Katha Schmidt Sachs. After graduating from RIT, our mother worked in food service. She retired from Gates Chili Central School in the early 80’s. She started in the bake shop, became a manager of a school cafeteria, and eventually managed the school lunch program for the district. After retiring, she volunteered at Strong Memorial Hospital for many years holding and rocking sick babies which she loved doing. She was also a very active member of her church and Eastern Star for many years.

Avon: Rick passed away peacefully at home with family on April 2, 2024, and joined his wife Linda on their next heavenly journey. Rick was born May 31, 1953, to his loving parents the late Herbert and Lillian Young. Rick is survived by his sister Linda (Jon) Rylander, brothers Lynn Young and Gary (Colleen) Young, brother-in-law Roby Robeson, and many nieces and nephews. Besides being a great son, he was a loving nephew to his late Aunt Sally and the best big brother to his siblings.

Rick was a record-setting athlete at Rush Henrietta where he attended school. After graduation, he worked for decades at Rochester Products-GM. Rick loved to hunt and enjoyed the solitude of the woods, he looked forward to his many hunting and fishing trips with his buddies. They were always moving on to their next adventure whether in a sports car, on a motorcycle, four-wheeler, or boat. Rick and Linda were blessed with amazing friends and neighbors Randy and Pat Remming. They all went on so many adventures together over the years and supported each other through thick and thin all of their days.

Honeoye: At age 65, Richard “Rick” Frost passed suddenly on March 31, 2024 at F.F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua, NY. He was born on November 18, 1958, in Canandaigua, NY to the late William C. and Flavia Joy (Gentilli) Frost. In addition to his parents, his sister-in-law Patricia Duplessis predeceased him. He is survived by his wife Janet (Britton) Frost; his daughter Jessie (Nate) Miller, brothers Robert (Betty) Frost, Hue (Lucretia) Vuong, sister Diana (Andy) Blum, sister-in-laws, Sharon Chau, Pamela (Karl) Schill, Carol Mensinger, brother-in-laws, Leon Britton, Allen (Karen) Britton, Brian Britton as well as several nieces and nephews, and his beloved dogs, Bear and Hunter.

Rick attended Honeoye Central School and graduated in 1978. Every summer while he was in school, he would travel back to his mom’s hometown of Trieste, Italy with his mom and brother. Very shortly after graduation, he met his wife, Jan Britton, and they began dating. After starting their relationship, they began drag racing, even racing each other at times, and running the car show circuit with multiple friends. Rick drove tractor-trailer for a living and finally ended up at his favorite career, working for Huff Equipment as a heavy equipment operator and truck driver.

In 1994, Rick joined the Richmond Fire Department, wanting to be an apparatus operator only. Shortly joining he was elected into the position of Lieutenant and his idea of being an apparatus driver only was over. He has been an officer ever since then, reaching the position of Chief which he held for 11 years, ultimately stepping down in 2023 so his daughter could step into his footsteps as Chief.

In 1995, Rick and Jan welcomed their baby girl, Jessica, and their lives were never the same. As a very close family, the three of them traveled everywhere together, including Disney World multiple times, which was their favorite place to travel to. The three of them opened their restaurant, Main Street Deli, in 2004 on Main St in Honeoye. The restaurant closed in 2006 and was moved onto the road as Triple R BBQ (Rick’s Rolling Restaurant). In 2008, Rick was hired to be the caterer for the staff of Extreme Makeover Home Edition. Rick, Jan, and Jessie traveled all over the country for a full season until the show was canceled. In 2011, he began working for the Richmond Highway Department while also traveling the fair circuit with his BBQ business in the summer. Rick retired from the Highway Department Christmas of 2023 and finally got to travel in his Freightliner to Florida with Jan for 6 weeks doing whatever they wanted to. Rick was so proud of what he had accomplished for the Richmond Fire Department, but more importantly very proud of the family he had grown. Not only is he survived by the people listed above, but by his legacy to the fire service and all who met him. If Rick could pass on one thing, he would want everyone to know to work hard and don’t back down on something you truly believe in.

Livonia, NY:  At age 85, Robert “Bob” Rice passed unexpectedly on March 28, 2024 at the Sebastian River Medical Center in Sebastian, Florida.  Bob was born on January 16, 1939 in Rochester, NY to the late Kermit “Gene” and Pauline (Mimm) Rice.  In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother-in-law Wayne Keemer.  He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Pamela (Kelly) Rice and sons, Rob Rice (Margaret Scahill) of Rochester and Steven Rice (Mary Lou Mason) of Webster; grandchildren, Lauren (Vinny) Graber, Michael Rice, and Tory Rice; great-grandson Henry Graber; siblings, Doris Rosenhaus of NYC and John Paul (Nancy) Rice PhD of MO; brother-in-law Sammy (Jaimye) Kelly of Irving, NY.  Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Bob and Pam met in high school in Rochester, NY and were married on July 30, 1960.  Bob joined the Rochester Police Department in 1965 and served for one and a half years before realizing that the fire service was his calling.  He then joined the Rochester Fire Department in 1967 and served for 34 years, retiring as a Deputy Chief in 1999.  He really loved the Rochester Fire Department from beginning to retirement.  He was called “Iron Man” by those who worked with him and was a member and past officer of the Rochester Fire Department Benevolent Association.  When Bob retired there was an article written in the Democrat & Chronicle that he was very proud of.  Bob and Pam purchased their home on Conesus Lake in 1983 and moved there permanently in 1995.  They made many friends in the community, at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Livonia, and as members of the Conesus Lake Association.  For the past 22 years they have called Barefoot Bay, Florida their winter home.  Bob loved his family, his brotherhood of fireman, and good times together at their Conesus Lake home.

Dick was born and raised in the thriving metropolis of Groveland Station, surrounded, always, by family. As Juanita was told while she was dating Dick, “Don’t ever say anything bad about the Bennetts, everyone here is related to them”, a fact that was often revisited on many trips through the cemetery on Groveland Hill. He grew up making mischief and having fun with his younger brother, Ron, and bonding over their shared love of cars. Following the sudden, difficult passing of their father, when Dick was 14, their mother eventually remarried to Clarence House, and for the first time in Dick’s life, he gained a wonderful step-family. Dick graduated high school in Geneseo in 1954, having run track and played football for several years.

Dick married Juanita in 1956, with whom he spent 52 years. They raised 5 boys in the house he built on Big Tree Road. He had many jobs to provide for his family, including as a mechanic in Avon, driving an enormous truck building the Niagara Falls Power Station, and a decades-long career at Gleason Works in Rochester working with their gear-cutting machines. Through his position at Gleason Works, he traveled to such exotic places as Detroit, the UK, Germany, and Belgium. In his time at home, he was often found helping his neighbors and others who called on him in their time of need. He was also, for a time, a member of the Civil Defense.

When his boys were nearly all grown, he took on the challenges presented by the Livonia Volunteer Fire Department. As a Life Member, Dick spent decades in active service, which eventually led to his position as Livingston County Fire Commissioner. His time spent training, fighting fires, and spending time at the firehouse made the Fire Department a large, greatly loved, part of the second half of his life.

He treasured his time with his family. While his time with his sons wasn’t as plentiful as he may have wished, he was able to coach Little League baseball and find the time to go to their games, concerts, parades, and other events when he could. One of his greatest regrets was not being able to spend more time with his children when they were young. As his boys began to have families of their own, he also loved his grandkids. He was known to joke that “If I knew how much fun the grandkids would be, I would have had them first.” He enjoyed the time spent with them, and spoiling them, for the rest of his life.

Following the loss of Juanita, through which he relived the heartbreak of losing his father, he spent a few difficult years living with a palpable sadness. In time, he grew closer to and eventually married the second love of his life, Suzanne. For the second time in his life, he gained a wonderful step-family. His expanding love for his new daughters and a trove of grandchildren and great-grandchildren were an additional source of joy for him throughout the rest of his life. As Dick loved and was loved by his new step-family, so was Sue by the sons and grandchildren she gained. Dick and Sue were able to share over a decade together, full of happiness that Dick could never have seen coming, for which he was truly blessed.

Altogether, Dick Bennett could be described by his many friends and family as a good, hardworking, loving man, who will be dearly missed.

A Memorial Service to Celebrate Dick’s Life will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, April 10th, at the Lakeville United Church of Christ, 5687 Big Tree Road, Lakeville, NY with Fireman’s Honors. Honeoye Lake: At age 85, Carol passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. She was born Carol Jean Lodder on January 22, 1939, in Rochester, NY to the late Marcus and Edna (Lewis) Lodder. Survived by her beloved husband, Alan H. Schoonmaker; her children, Eric R. Lang (Valerie M. Guarino), Brian L. Lang, and Valerie J. Lang (Alexander Solky); her sister, Virginia (Russell) Gardner; and her grandchildren, Forest L. Kiger, Charles L. Solky, Richard R. Lang, and many step-children and step-grandchildren. She is predeceased by Doris Lodder.

A graduate of Spencerport High School and S.U. Brockport, Carol later earned her Masters of Education from Nazareth College and taught special education for 17 years at Lyons Central School and Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES. Carol loved nature, learning, traveling, and her family. In her “retirement,” she served as president of the Honeoye Garden Club, Town Historian for Richmond/Honeoye, authored a pictorial history of Honeoye Lake, guided tours at the Granger Homestead, and participated in the Red Hat Society. Her love of nature included gardening, enjoying the beautiful Finger Lakes, climbing Mount Marcy and other Adirondack high peaks, and numerous adventures with the Wayfarers, including proudly celebrating their 100th anniversary. Her travel bug took her to California, Hawaii, Alaska, and other states, and to Europe, Cuba, Canada, and Mexico. Carol respected all faiths, and the Unitarian church was an important part of her life personally. She was a loving mother, grandmother, cousin, aunt, step-relative, and friend to many, gathering them together on her beloved Honeoye Lake.

Springwater: Karen passed away suddenly on the morning of March 16, 2024, at the age of 59. She was predeceased by her parents, James & Jean DeGraff. Karen is survived by her husband of 33 years, Lee Sullivan, son, Elijah Sullivan, daughter, Emma Sullivan (future son-in-law Ryan Wolack), sisters, Sharon (David) Houghtaling, Elizabeth Demay, Peg (John) Fleig, brothers, Ron (Phyllis) DeGraff, Eric (Sheryll) DeGraff, Lynn (Lisa) DeGraff, Tom DeGraff, and Paul DeGraff. Karen was born at Thompson Hospital on November 25th, 1964, and became the 9th and final child of the family. She always joked that her parents strived for the perfect child and finally succeeded when she was born.

Karen grew up on the north end of Canadice Lake Road where she lived most of her life before meeting her husband. Karen and Lee first met when they both started working at Southco in Honeoye Falls on Jan 3, 1989 and were later married on August 18, 1990, in the backyard of their first home.

Years later they welcomed their firstborn son, Elijah James in 1995 and a daughter, Emma Jean in 1997. At that point Karen decided to stay home to raise her children and pursue her love of animals further by creating the small farm she had always dreamed of. After a cancer diagnosis in 2002, she moved with her family and farm back to her “old stomping grounds” in Canadice. While raising her family and taking care of the farm she tried to stay active with the school and community as much as she could.

As a Honeoye graduate of the class of ‘82, she was very proud of her time as part of the Honeoye School Board of Education and enjoyed being part of the Honeoye Community Players and U.N.I.F.Y. She recently reconnected with old friends from school and together they formed the friendship circle to keep in touch.

Karen was a kind-hearted person who loved her friends and family dearly. She always put others’ needs above her own and would go out of her way to make someone feel special. Karen had the greatest love for nature. Taking walks, caring for her animals, and even mowing the lawn. As long as she was outside, she was happy. Karen was proud of the fact that she was winning her battle against cancer and unfortunately died of other health complications.

Karen was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend and although she has left a gaping hole in the lives of those closest to her, she would want everyone to live a full life. Spend time with friends and family, enjoy nature, and don’t forget to say “I love you” to those who matter most.

Conesus, NY: At age 80, Bill passed peacefully at his home on March 16, 2024. He was born on January 3, 1944 in Rochester, NY to the late Francis “Red” and Rosemary (Schmuck) Fugle. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by infant sons; William Francis Fugle Jr. and Randolph Scott Fugle. Survived by his wife of 61 and a half years, Leila (Curtis) Fugle and children; Donna (Tim) Lockwood of Conesus, Bill (Lynnea) Fugle of Livonia, and Jason (Julie) Fugle of Livonia; grandchildren, Andrew (Stephanie) Fugle of West Virginia, Austyn Fugle, and Logan Fugle both of Livonia; great-granddaughter Amelia Tehoke.  Also survived by his twelve siblings: Gloria Herring, Gail White, Roger (Norma) Fugle, Gary (John) Fugle, Roxanne (John) Johnston, Kirk (Theresa) Fugle, Larry (Karin) Fugle, Christine (Anthony) Coniglio, Jean (Fred) Yates, Judith (Jack) Benedict, Jeffery (Eileen) Fugle.  He was predeceased by his brothers Ron and Steve Fugle.  Also survived by sisters-in-law Tracey Fugle and Betty (Ron) Sawdey; numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

Bill was likely the first person you’d see as you walked through the door at Fugle’s Auto Parts. You’d find him at his usual spot at the front counter, greeting you with his warm, genuine smile that would light up a room. He enjoyed meeting and talking with customers, friends and acquaintances, often sharing a joke and trading laughter which came so easily to him. Fugle’s was established in 1958. Bill worked at the family business for the past 66 years as a co-owner. At 80 years old he still looked forward to getting up and going to work each day, continuing to work 4 days a week. He was proud to have his two sons Bill and Jason work side by side with him every day.

Working in the auto parts industry only fueled his passion for cars and trucks. Some of his all-time favorites included his ‘55 Mustang, a ‘64 Ford Fairlane, his yellow Ford wrecker and his plum purple hearse with the 8 track tape deck. He loved listening to the good old country music of Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Hank Williams and many more.

Bill worked hard and played hard, enjoying working at his home property with tractors, backhoes, bulldozers and 4 wheelers. He appreciated the sounds of powerful engines and the rumble of horsepower beneath his feet. Watching his grandson, Austyn, race at both Perry and Canandaigua was a favorite past-time for many years. He enjoyed buying and selling junked cars, using his saw mill, cutting up fire-wood, mowing his property and being out in the great outdoors. He took pride in building his home on property previously owned by his grandfather.

He volunteered for 40 years with the Oak Ridge Cemetery in South Livonia NY. He cared for others in life as well as in death. He provided comfort and compassion to others during times of loss. He had such a giving heart, always willing to help others in any way he could.

Bill more than anything cherished home and family. His wife, children, their spouses, grandchildren and a great grandchild. He was always ready with words of wisdom, encouragement, and humor to help his family achieve their goals and dreams and to live their best lives. He loved deeply and had a heart of gold.

He enjoyed the love of faithful pets in his lifetime and had an especially soft spot for dogs and cats, they brought him comfort and joy and always gave him a reason to laugh and smile even while hospitalized.

He made friends wherever he went. He would strike up a conversation with you, friend or stranger and before you knew it you would be sharing a laugh, trading a joke or story. He had the biggest belly laugh and would literally laugh out loud with pure happiness. It was an amazing sound that will be cherished by those lucky enough to have experienced it. Smiles and laughter just came so easily for him and he loved to make others laugh along with him. He never wanted tears or sadness especially in his final days, he wanted his life to be celebrated. And so we shall.

Canandaigua: Roslyn passed away at F.F. Thompson Hospital surrounded by family, on March 14, 2024, at the age of 91.

Roz was predeceased by Irv, her loving husband of 65 years, and her brother Murray Karn. She is survived by her daughters, Robin (Joe) Ehlich of Charlotte, NC, and Marcie (Walter) Snyder of Honeoye, NY, grandchildren, Sarah (Josh) Weeks, Melissa (Michael) Smith, and Elizabeth (Frank) Fabor, 10 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Margot (Murray) Karn and Diane (Gilbert) Aser and many nieces and nephews, as well as her half-siblings Shelly Karn LaBell (Fred) and Lawrence Karn (Roikaew).

Roslyn was born in Toronto, Canada on September 29, 1932, and lived there until she met the love of her life, Irving Baldwin. Roz’s aunt in Toronto and Irv’s mother in Rochester were friends and knew they would be a good match. After meeting each other and many letters, they were engaged and married in Rochester, NY in 1953. Roz was a homemaker and raised two beautiful daughters. She was a lifelong member of Hadassah.

Roz and Irv retired to Boynton Beach, FL, and spent many happy years traveling, playing tennis, and enjoying family and friends. They moved to Charlotte, NC in 2003 to be near family. She has been attending the Oasis senior program at the Jewish Community Center in Charlotte for several years. Roz recently moved to Canandaigua, NY.

A private celebration of Roz’s long life was held at the restaurant of her niece, Trish Aser, at the Old School Café, Naples, NY , and another at the home of her daughter Robin and son-in-law Joseph Ehlich in Charlotte, NC on Saturday, April 20, 2024, 3-5 PM. LIVONIA: At age 99, Frank entered into the loving arms of his savior on March 12, 2024. He was predeceased by his parents Michael and Laura (Smith) West; loving wife of 65 years, Betty Ann West; sons Michael and Brian West; grandson Todd West; and siblings Joseph West, Annette Panipinto, Joan Trescott and Grace Shepard. He is survived by his children Daniel (Karen Kurtz) West of Fernandina Beach, FL; Frank (Wendy) West of Rochester; Barbara West of Livonia Center; and Colleen (Earl) Hay of Livonia. He is also survived by daughters-in-law Susan (Peck) West and Sandra (Johnson) West; sisters Patricia Bush, Carole (E. Philip) Saunders, Sheila Cook, Sharon (Johnston) Fitzsimmons; 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and many dear nieces, nephews and friends.

Frank was proud of his large extended family and was the self-proclaimed “Patriarch of the West Family.” His Italian heritage was very important to him, and he was deeply moved when his son, Frank, took Betty and him to Italy to visit his father’s birthplace in Passopisciaro, Sicily. While there, they saw where his grandmother Antonina “Anna” Vasta operated her cigar shop before emigrating to the United States.

Frank used to say he was born and grew up in Livonia Center “in back of St. Mike’s.” A lifetime Catholic, he was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church until it closed on June 6, 1982, and he subsequently became a member of St. Matthew Faith Community. In recent years, Frank was not able to attend Mass in person, but he faithfully watched it on television every Sunday and prayed regularly for his family, friends, and community.

In addition to his love for the church, Frank possessed a strong work ethic. He started working on the family farm in South Lima as a boy, then helped his father run the Commercial Hotel in Livonia. After leaving the Hotel, he was employed at Rochester Products, a division of General Motors, where he advanced from Screw Machine Operator to General Plant Manager of the Lexington Road location. Not only did he work hard to support his family, but he taught his children the importance of diligence, excellence, and loyalty. For example, he only drove GM cars and insisted his family follow suit.

Frank had a passion for hunting, fishing, the Yankees and the Buffalo Bills and enjoyed sharing these pastimes with friends and family. One of his favorite sayings was, “you don’t have to be hungry to eat,” and he relished cooking and eating a variety of wild game and Italian dishes. Venison, eggplant parmesan, and cuccidati were some of his favorite foods.

Lehigh Acres, FL/Livonia, NY:  Todd E. Gfeller passed on March 10, 2024 at age 59.  He was born on December 18, 1964 in Dansville, NY to the late Donald and Lois (Batzel) Gfeller.  He is survived by children; Carrie Cole, Josh Gfeller, and Felicia (James) Sakitis Sr. all of Lehigh Acres, Florida; their mother, Roxanne Cole; grandchildren, Demetrius, James Jr., Bentley, Zailey, and Kendra Sakitis, and Koress Crawford; siblings, Kim (John) Grab of Conesus, Mark Gfeller of Livonia, Kyle Gfeller of Livonia, and Keith (Liza) Gfeller of Raleigh, NC; also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Throughout Todd’s professional career he worked in all aspects of construction, but specifically enjoyed roofing, including at one point having his own roofing company.  Not only did he work hard to support his family financially, but he was always supporting his children in their individual passions, attending all sporting events and special occasions, which brought him so much joy.  Todd had a passion for baseball, hunting and golf. His last dog, Storm, was also important to him.  One of his favorite places to be during his down time and a place he would often hunt, was Klipknocky State Forest. There he had memories not only with his children, but also with his grandfather, father, and brothers.

Canandaigua/Honeoye:  At age 91, Elizabeth passed peacefully, surrounded by family, on March 9, 2024 at F.F Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua, NY.  She was born on October 8, 1932 to the late Robert and Elizabeth (Tennant) McAdam.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband John W. Martin II and siblings; Margaret (Vincent) Matheson, Joan Rice, and John McAdam.  She is survived by sons, Stephen (Ann) Martin and John W. (Elaine) Martin III; grandchildren, Zachary (Taylor Chase) Martin, John W. Martin IV, Meredith (Antonio) Narcisi, Ann Marie Martin, and Matthew Martin; brother, Robert (Mary) McAdam; brother-in-law Eric Rice; several nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Elizabeth was born in Hamilton, Scotland.  Her Scottish heritage was a source of great pride to her throughout her life.  Married for 60 years, Elizabeth and husband John were blessed with a deep-rooted love of family, friends and each other.

She was a registered nurse as a first career and then switched gears, returned to school and obtained a BS in Early Education with the intention of streamlining her family life with John and their two sons, Stephen and John.  She was a beloved and dedicated kindergarten teacher for many years at Honeoye Central School where husband John also taught and her children attended.

Elizabeth pursued and enjoyed cooking, baking, and music, reading and above all, family occasions, many of which involved sporting events as the three men in her life were avid athletes and sports enthusiasts.  When grandchildren appeared on the scene, she relished her role as Grandma and was completely enamored with her “Fab Five” …Zachary, John, Meredith, Ann Marie and Matthew.

She kept her mind sharp with her daily crosswords, word jumbles, jigsaw puzzles and reading.

She was a woman of strength, perseverance and high standards.  Her tenacity, independent spirit and love will be greatly missed.
